Plot/Summary:

In Once Upon a Broken Heart, we follow Evangeline Fox , our female main character. The story starts with Evangeline opening a church’s doors with her blood, but this isn’t just any church. No, this is the Prince of Hearts’ church, which is known for being extremely difficult to find. (Now the Prince of Hearts is Jacks from the Garber’s previous series Caravel. The Once Upon a Broken Heart trilogy is a spinoff featuring Jacks, Caravel’s antagonist). However, in this series Jacks is our male main character, and to say he is loved by the entire fandom would be an understatement.

Anyway, Evangeline is in love with another boy who is getting married to her step-sister, and she needs the Prince of Hearts’ help to stop the wedding because he knows all about tragic love. So these two make a bargain, and as promised, Jacks technically does stop the wedding. Mind you, Evangeline now owes Jacks three kisses in exchange. Evangeline learns far too late to not make any bargains with immortals because they are notoriously dangerous. She has no idea what Jacks could possibly use her for, but make no mistake: Jacks has a plan. This kicks off an adventurous story with twists and turns filled lots of tension!

My Thoughts:

Overall, the entirety of the Once Upon a Broken Heart trilogy is a top tier romantasy. The banter is witty and keeps the reader engaged. Not to mention the whimsical vibes of the books, it’s as if you’re in a fairy tale. EvaJacks is one of my favorite book couple of all time. I would most definitely recommend everyone at least try this series because it will most likely become your favorite too. The yearning throughout the three books had me quite literally kicking my feet and giggling. Since finishing the series I’ve been searching for books to fill the void it left behind, I am truly obsessed. Stephanie Garber for sure knows what she's doing and knows how to write a fantasy romance.
